Godfather - Review

Godfather - Varalaaru

There is nothing new in the story treatment but Ajith shines in the role of the dancer. The movies storyline is similar to those movies we have seen in the 80's. KSR must have been impressed by the idea of how a man will react when a woamn doubts his manhood. From this simple thought must have spawned the movie Godfather.

Ajith has done triple role. As dad especially in the flashback Ajith steals the show. The villain Ajith goes little overboard but thats what KSR must have asked him to do. The other Ajith is just there. The movie starts of slowly. Ajith and his friends going to a village where he encounters Asin. A tamil cinema style fight between hero and heroine finally ends up in love. Dad Ajith accepts sons love and arranges for the marriage. Then starts happening weird things is son Ajiths life. Ajith misbehaves at his inlaws, then he misbehaves with his fiances friend etc.

Why Ajith does all those things are answered in the second half.

The songs and background score are a big let down but still the song Innisai and Theeyil vizhunda are different in good way. Especially the song Theeyil vizhunda is pretty good. The kid who has acted in that song has done a good job.

Asin is just there for the songs. Kanika looks good in flashback.

There is absolutely no comedy in the movie. The first 15 to 20 minutes they do something thinking it is comedy but it doesnt evoke much laughter.

Some places we can see traces of Rajini in Ajith - I guess it should KSR's direction. I also felt Ajith has strted to resemble Aamir khan a lot but Aamir has started to resemble Tom hanks a lot but thats a different story altogether.

The fight scenes between Ajith and Ajith has been picturised well.

There is one song in which Ajith looks very different - lean, which shows the lack of continuity because of the problems the movie faced.

Its a typical mass movie with all right ingredients. If this is 80's this movie is a sure blockbuster but this is 2006. We have to wait and see.

god father is a film where we can see sex even in a mother child relationship .most the scenes gives you a sense of sex .ajith cant be rescued by any god fathers till he finds a good script .after spending two and half hours you will feel a sense of loss
