Vetayadu Vilayadu

First kudos to Kamal and Gautam for coming up with a film which is above normal Tamil film standards. In the past there have been investigative Tamil movies but Vetayadu Vilayadu stands different from those movies.

For those who are familiar with Television shows like CSI and movies Hannibal Series, will be able to notice lot of similarities between VV and those.

For those who expected a different movie from Kamal can be happy as this is a very different movie for him. But for those who expected a different movie from Gautam will be disappointed as the movie resembles KK in many ways such as repetition of Character names, movie plot, song picturisation and placement of songs.

Nowadays a new trend is noticeable in tamil movies where the honest guy kills the bad guy with all vengeance examples Saami, KK, Dhool, We can feel the punches ourselves.

The movie starts of promisingly with one such fighting scene between Kamal and bad guys with the impact as mentioned above. And then Kamal is pulled into a investigation of his mentor daughter.

During this investigation Kamal travels to New York.

The movie is all about how Kamal finds the bad guys who were responsible for the murder of his mentors daughter. There are lot of loop holes in the story which are part and parcel of any investigative movie. The reason given by the bad guys for the murders and the way they commit murders (they travel from US to Keeranur for a murder) is not convincing.

But whatever is the story we can always find these kinds of faults if we can forget this and watch it is entertaining.

The movie is very long. There is no need for Jyothika or Kamilinee in this movie.

Kamal’s performance is brilliant and he has underplayed but we can see he is ageing.

Harris Jeyaraj music is good but reminds of KK at lot of places especially in the song “Partha mudhal nalle” . The intro song for kamal “Karka Karka” is peppy and crisp.

Anthony has showed in lot of places his editing skills especially in the above song.

Gautam has tried to give a western type cop movie with some Indian sentiments thrown around here and there. So the movie neither looks like a full Indian movie or western movie.

On the whole this may appeal to some but not to all.
