Affair with cable

My affair with Cable is an on and off one. I prefer to watch movies or programs without any ad interruptions. Our Tamil channels are notorious with advertisements. Especially Raj and Vijay can kill you with advertisements. Also the time I get to spend on TV has reduced considerably over the years. Another factor is if I spend time on Cable my DVD and Bluray collection remains untouched. The final nail was the new TRAI rule which increased the cost to a new high.

Earlier I had Tata Sky and their cost was high and even to look at issues in their service they will charge you. You will be charged just for the visit. I discontinued Tata Sky and remained Cable free for almost an year. Then I heard SCV cable provides almost all HD channels for a low cost. I switched to SCV and everything was going file till TRAI interfered with their illogical rule. I discontinued again.

I almost forgot how watching cable felt until I was admitted in hospital for few days where I had the opportunity of watching cable. This made me to take the service again in Dec 2019. After few months I felt the channels just repeat content and I really didn't have time for Cable in my life and discontinued it.

Now during the quarantine I saw people passionately enjoying programs in Cable which again made me regret my decision to discontinue cable. Again I have installed Cable against my family's objection.

I have not watched it continuously for 30 minutes since installing. Should see how long this will last.

Mixed bag

Its been so hot here in chennai that you have to be here to feel it. For past few years the month of May has been below 40 but this time it has touched 40 right the 1st week of May. There are no signs of rain. Chennai feels like on big furnace with no one to turn off the heat. Nights are unbearable with low voltage, power cuts and the heat. I have a feeling its just the begining.

Rana has had a bad start. First time we hear news like Rajini admitted in hospital.

After Rajasekara reddy another CM dies in a helicopter crash. Something fishy?

Lets consider the case where someone has done something very bad to you and you are seeking vengence. You have been searching that person for years. Atlast you get hold of him. Will you kill him immediately or take pleasure in tourturing him? Osama ..

Analysis

I read in todays Hindu that Traffic police in chennai are going to be more strict on traffic rules violators. It was mentioned that they are considering increasing the fine for Traffic rule violations such as stopping beyond stop line, to Rs.1000.

Having been in London for sometime I have observed here the fine for any rules violations is very high atleast thats what they advertise. If you dont get you TV licence which just costs 130 GBP you may have to pay a fine of 1000 GBP. If you dont pay your council tax on time, your right to pay in installment is revoked and you end up paying 1000 GBP in one shot. There is no way you can escape without paying congestion charge if you plan to use car inside London. If you dont have valid tickets you have to pay a big amount as fine. They advertise these things very well in all prominent places. You are made to read those things again and again so that you dont violate any rules.

Though apart from fines the attitude of the people to respect rules also matters, fines does to some extent help in enforcing the rules.

In chennai if the police does take serious steps in enforcing rules (which is becoming highly necassary with the kind of traffic increase we witness) many lives will be saved.

The Nun - Movie

Yes the demon in Nun costume looks scary. Even in one of the earlier movies when they show this painting it had good impact. But beyond that...
