Elle is directed by Paul Verhoeven and stars Isabelle Huppert. I watched this movie expecting a thriller but ended up with a movie which I felt was weird for the sake of being weird. The movie has too many characters and difficult to follow who is who and the plot doesn't go anywhere so you keep wondering what the hell was happening.
To make things more complex there is even a flashback which is not explained clearly but the flashback plays a major role in the movie.
The movie does have some weird sexual scenes which again does not make any sense. At some point you don't even care what happens to the lead character which doesn't help when the movie is more than 120 minutes long.
I somehow finished watching it. It has a high rating in IMDB. This is one movie where IMDB rating is proved wrong.
