KURBAN

Just came from watching the movie KURBAN. The movie has a very simple plot but the movie doesnt touch our heart. The movie does have some nail biting moments but all leads to nowhere.

As most hindi movies that come nowadays this movie is set almost 90% in NewYork with lot of whites playing vital roles. The movies plot is something which might attract everyone especially Americans as it deals with a very important concept called terrorism.

A group of muslims plot some terror attack and another muslim tries to stop it. This is the story in one line. But towards the ending the movie goes in lot of directions and it becomes chaotic. If was done with some care the movie would have been a lot better.

Afternoons

Its Sunday afternoon when i m typing this post, which prompted me to type this post. Sunday afternoons have this unique laziness attached to it. Be it in London or in Chennai I can almost touch that feeling.

When in london I used to be sitting before the laptop and listening to the sound of an occasional car zipping past London road. Here in chennai I can hear the person who collects old paper cycling around the sleeping colony shouting "Papeyee Papeyee" amidst the sound of a lonely cawing crow. These are unique to Sunday afternoons. Though it will be same for weekday afternoons as well I dont get to witness that being at home on weekdays.

But Saturday afternoons are not the same as there will be excitement in the air but sunday all excitement goes down the drain and I sit here suffocating in that choking feeling. I dont know if it's the thought of Monday being so near but Sundays are always the same. They start with lot of excitement and slowly as the day progresses its like you are in a lonely desert with no sight of any activity around you.

Rediff

I have noticed that Rediff reports news like Ant fallen sick in Mumbai, Flies from Mumbai suffering from dysentry but never tries to report any news from the south.

When entire Tamilnadu was/is witnessing heavy rains there is not a single news about that where as when the same pressure moved west towards Mumbai and when it started to drizzle there was a picture report about Mumbai in rains.

Its a double standard followed by these websites for whom India stops where people stop speaking in Hindi.

If you take the case of http://www.thatstamil.com/ they report any news that happens in entire India.

Now who sufferes because of the double standards followed by websites like rediff, its only north indians who depend on such websites. Their knowledge will be limited to whatever they read in rediff. But if you take the case of people who visit thatstamil they will have knowldge of whatever is happening in entire India.

Letters from Iwo Jima

After watching Flags of our Fathers I was not very keen on watching Letter from Iwo Jima (LIJ). The main reason I didnt like Flags of our Fathers (FooF) was I didnt understand the movie. Though I know the theme of the movie I didnt understand it scene by scene. I also felt the movie was just going on and on. The movie was going back and forth in narration. So I assumed LIJ would be the same and postponed watching the movie.

Finally today I gave the movie a shot and was pleasantly surprised. The movie is way better than FooF. It was easy to follow the narration though the movie was in Japanese. The movie is a masterpiece. The movie had the same impact as We were soldiers.

It will be very difficult to see such a movie and support War. You can empathise with each and every character. Whether it is American, Japanese or Indian everywhere the feelings are same, human being is the same. There is no point in hurting another human in the name of war.

Clint Eastwood excels as a Director as well as the music director. The music has so much life.

This is one movie which you shouldn't miss.

This is it

Watched This is it today. The movie once again proves Michael Jackson is the King. The movie showcases the enormous amount of effort that has gone into this what would have been a show like never before.

The movie shows Michael rehearsing with other dancers. We can see how cool he is and how effortlessly he does those complex movements. We can see him very cheerful and happy. His death must have been very shocking to those people who worked with him for this show day and night.

The movie shows the side of Michael we have never seen. We can see him composing, practising and being one among them.

The Earth song was awesome. The numbers They dont really care about us, Thriller would have come with extrodinary works if the shows had gone live. The world just missed an excellent show.

We will miss the excellent showman, King of pop, forever.

A Simple Plan and Just Mercy
